– According to preliminary results by Statistics Austria the number
of weekly deaths has increased, since calendar week 6 (7 to 13 February
2022, 1 855 deaths), however, not continuously. 1 938 persons died in
calendar week 13 of 2022 (28 March to 3 April 2022). This was 9% above
the number of calendar week 13 of 2021 (1 778 deaths) and 18% above the
five-year average for the same calendar week of the years before the
start of the Corona pandemic (2015-2019: 1 646 deaths). In the previous
week - just after the peak of the 'Omikron-wave' - weekly deaths had
reached their highest number so far since the beginning of the year
2022 (1 979 deaths in calendar week 12).
