DGINS 2016 – Conference of the Directors General of the National Statistical Institutes

The annual Conference of the Directors General of European Statistical Institutes, organised by Statistics Austria in cooperation with Eurostat, was held in Vienna from 26 to 27 September 2016. During the two day event with over 130 participants from 40 countries best practices, experiences and inputs from outside the statistics community have been exchanged resulting in relevant recommendations such as the Vienna Memorandum.

The first, internal day of the conference focused on managing modern national statistical institutes in the 21st Century. The second day of the conference started with a key note by the Austrian Federal Chancellor Christian Kern and was dedicated to discussing statistics on income, consumption and wealth. It included representatives of international organisations as for example the ECB and OECD as well as of the academia.
