Press release: 12.626-217/21
- Four out of five of the approximately 395 000 students in the winter
semester 2021/22 already have an upright vaccination against COVID-19.
"Fully immunised" means people who have received all of the
vaccine doses necessary for full immunisation, as well as those who
have recovered with at least one vaccination. Statistics Austria determined
the results of the vaccination status of the students for the first
time on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research.
The basis is data from the university statistics and the Austrian National
Vaccination Register as of 31 August 2021. International vaccination
data were also taken into account when estimating the vaccination status
of students from abroad.
"Students at Austrian universities are very willing
to vaccinate against COVID-19: Before the start of the winter semester 2021/22,
the vaccination rate of 18- to 34-year-old students is 79% and thus
massively higher than in the general population of the same age (56%)",
says Tobias Thomas, Director General of Statistics Austria.
