Accidents

In 2019, a total of 56 air accidents were registered in Austria, which means a decrease by 5.1% compared to the previous year (2018: 59 accidents). The majority of air accidents occurred with hanging-/paragliders and parachutes. In 2019, 31 accidents were counted in this sector (2018: 40) whereof 4 were serious (2018: 4). Regarding accidents with other aircrafts 18 out of 25 accidents were related to general aviation (2018: 13 out of 19 accidents); in commercial aviation were three accidents (2018: 4) reported and in other aviation four accidents (2018: 2). In 2019, three serious accidents (2018: 4) with six dead persons (2018: 6) were counted in general aviation. In commercial aviation and other aviation no serious accident was registered in 2019 (2018: one serious accident with one dead person).
