Foreign trade January 2019: increase in imports (+6.5%) and exports (+5.0%)

Vienna, 2019-04-09 – In January 2019, total imports amounted to €12.97 bn and total exports added up to €12.57 bn, according to preliminary results by Statistics Austria. Compared to January 2018, Austrian imports increased by 6.5% and Austrian exports rose by 5.0%. The global foreign trade balance showed a deficit of €0.40 bn. Working-day adjusted, the rates of increase were 6.7% for imports and 5.2% for exports.
