Public Sector

According to Gebarungsstatistik-regulation 2014, BGBl. II Nr. 345/2013, Statistics Austria is obliged to publish a list of general government and government controlled units. The public sector consists of all institutional units resident in the economy that are controlled by government.

The public sector consists of two groups:

  1. General Government (S.13): statistical units which belong to general government according to ESA 2010
  2. Public Corporations (S.11, S.12): statistical units according to ESA 2010, which are government controlled but classified outside general government (market producers). Control is defined as the ability to determine the general policy or programme of an institutional unit.

The list of general government and government controlled units is published annually not later than March 31st.
