– The industrial producer price index,
IPPI 2015, reached 102.6 points in January 2020,
representing a price decrease of 0.3% compared to January 2019, as Statistics Austria
reports. In December and November 2019, the annual rates of change had
been -0.4% and -1.1%, respectively. Thus, the industrial producer prices
continued to decline in January 2020. Between December 2019 and January 2020,
the industrial producer price index increased by 0.2%.
The decrease of the industrial producer price index
in January 2020 (-0.3%) was mainly due to price declines for intermediate
goods (-1.6%) and in the energy sector (-1.4%). The prices for capital
goods rose by 0.9% in January 2020 and those for consumer goods by 2.0%.
