– The industrial producer price index,
IPPI 2021, reached 115.7 points in March 2022,
representing a price increase of 21.2% compared to March 2021, as Statistics Austria
reports. In February and January 2022, the annual rates of change had
been +18.9% and +18.4%, respectively. Thus, the positive price trend
for industrial products continued in the first quarter of 2022. Between
February and March 2022, the industrial producer price index rose by
2.8%.
The increase of the industrial producer price index
in March 2022 (+21.2%) was mainly due to increasing prices in the energy
sector (+53.1%). The prices for intermediate goods rose by 19.3% compared
to March 2021. Prices for consumer goods went up by 5.0%, those for capital
goods increased by 3.6%.
