Vienna, 2022-04-15 – Statistics Austria analyses the monthly COVID-19 vaccination and recovery status of the Austrian population on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection. As of 31 March 2022, 85% of the population held a - for this reference date - valid vaccination certificate and/or a valid recovery certificate: almost 70% held a vaccination certificate (among whom 17% have also recovered) and additional 16% had only received a recovery certificate.

Due to the recommendations by the national vaccination panel, vaccination rates are low for children, but between the age of five and ten shares of those who only held a recovery certificate are the highest within the population.

Among 25- to 64-year-olds, the shares of those who either held a vaccination or a recovery certificate were highest for people with a university degree (93%) and lowest for those with compulsory education (86%). Employed persons in this age group had a higher rate of valid vaccination and/or recovery certificates (at 92%) than those not in employment, at 84%.
