– The industrial producer price index,
IPPI 2021, reached 112.5 points in February 2022,
representing a price increase of 18.9% compared to February 2021, as
Statistics Austria reports. In January 2022 and December 2021, the annual
rates of change had been +18.4% and +16.7%, respectively. Thus, the
upward trend for industrial producer prices continues. Between January
and February 2022, the industrial producer price index rose by 1.2%.
The increase of the industrial producer price index
in February 2022 (+18.9%) was mainly due to high prices in the energy
sector (+43.9%) and for intermediate goods (+19.1%). The prices for
consumer goods increased by 4.1% compared to February 2021 and those
for capital goods by 3.1%.
