Number of deaths continues to decrease

Vienna, 2021-05-27 – According to preliminary results by Statistics Austria, 1 554 people died in Austria in calendar week 19 (from 10 to 16 May 2021), which were 74 fewer deaths than in the previous week (1 628 people died in calendar week 18). The number of deaths decreased for the fourth consecutive week and is now 7% above the five-year average (2016–2020) for calendar week 19.
