– The industrial producer price index,
IPPI 2015, reached 100.7 points in October 2020,
representing a price decrease of 1.5% compared to October 2019, as Statistics Austria
reports. In September and August 2020, the annual rates of change had
been -1.8% and -1.9%. Thus, the decline in prices at the producer level
decelerated further in October 2020. Between September and October 2020,
the industrial producer price index rose by 0.2%.
The decrease of the industrial producer price index
in October 2020 (-1.5%) was mainly caused by falling prices in the energy
sector (-5.4%) and for intermediate goods (-1.6%). The prices for capital
goods and for consumer goods went up by 0.6% each in October 2020.
