The following regional breakdowns are shown in the
form of tables and also in graphic form as maps:
Administrative units of Austria There is a hierarchical structure of local responsibility for
Austria's administrative units. The highest regional administrative
units are the federal provinces (Länder), the second highest are the
political districts (districts and towns with charters) and the third
and lowest administrative level are the municipalities.
Breakdown of areas by function The regional electoral zones based on the National Council Elections
Order 1992 are shown here. Area delimitations, in which the boundaries
are based on static data (urban regions, localities), and the NUTS units,
which are used in EU statistics, are both shown.
Geometric area divisions The statistical grids based on geometric spatial divisions such
as square grids (100mx100m, 250mx250m, 500mx500m etc.) are independent
of administrative boundaries or other area boundaries and therefore
allow a purely objective spatial subdivision based on the distribution
of the statistical data.
Special directories A list of countries are available to help fill out statistical
surveys.
