The statistics on motor vehicle driving licences provide data on new driving licence holders, driving licences and the acquired authorisations to specific vehicle classes (e.g.: class B, C) of a reporting year in Austria. The statistics are based on administrative data from the driving licence register, which is maintained at the Austrian Federal Computing Centre and transmitted to Statistics Austria once per year. The results of the reporting year are published at the latest by the beginning of the fourth quarter of the following year. The Driving Licence Act (1997/I/120) and the Federal Statistics Act (2000) form the legal base.
