The survey field of general aviation (commercial and non-commercial) covers the transport and operational performance of all aircraft that are registered in the Aircraft Register of the Republic of Austria which is maintained by Austro Control GmbH. The most important key figures in commercial aviation are the number of flights by kind of flight and the number of carried passengers. In non-commercial aviation the number of flight hours and landings are recorded.

The survey of operations at Austrian airfields in general aviation includes operations of domestic and foreign aircraft and helicopters, with the type of flight by take-offs and landings being one of the most important key figures. The owners of the airfields, who are subject to reporting requirements, and the associated ICAO code are taken from the AIP (Aeronautical Information Publication) Austria published by Austro Control GmbH. The survey of gliding operations covers all glider take-offs. Data is collected and published annually.
