The survey of freight transport on the Danube covers the transport of goods with vessels of which the loading and unloading port is located on Austrian waterways or leads over these. Data is transmitted monthly to Statistics Austria by the offices of the individual loading and unloading ports, the reporting offices respectively the cargo handling companies, and by the Ottensheim lock. Important key figures are the number of transportations as well as the transport volume and transport performance in national and international transport, and these are published monthly.
The survey of vessel traffic covers the number of locks passed by loaded and unloaded vessels on the Austrian part of the Danube. Data is collected monthly and aggregated per lock by type of vessel. The results of the vessel traffic are published monthly.
