The business enterprise sector in R&D statistics includes all profit-oriented enterprises (company R&D sub-sector) as well as the COMET competence centres and the members of the ACR - Austrian Cooperative Research (institutes sub-sector).
R&D expenditures and R&D personnel are the two most important indicators in R&D statistics on enterprises. R&D activities are mainly classified by industries. The data is the result of a statistical survey which is carried out on odd calendar years among all R&D performing enterprises.
The methodological base is the OECD's Frascati Manual.
