The detailed overview of the Federal Government's use of funds for research („Detailübersicht Forschungswirksame Mittelverwendungen des Bundes“) is part of the federal budget in which budgeted expenses of the Federal Government for research and research funding are listed. Such budget analyses allow a forecast to be made of public spending planned for the future.

An analysis of the research-relevant budget lines allows the amount of research expenditures funded by the Federal Government each calendar year to be presented. Depending on availability, final or preliminary budget data is used. The figures are presented by socio-economic objectives and ministries.
