ICT usage in enterprises

Statistics Austria conducts an annual survey on the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in Austrian enterprises with at least ten employees in selected branches of the economy. The focus is on topics such as internet use, e-commerce, use of cloud services, data analytics and artificial intelligence.

Due to harmonised definitions and a uniform methodology, important indicators for EU-wide benchmarks can be identified to monitor the progress of digital transformation. Austrian results are available in the autumn of the particular survey year, EU-wide results at the end of the year.

Compiled on 29 November 2023 – The Digital Intensity Index is composed of twelve indicators on the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in enterprises. To achieve a very low/low/high/very high level of digital intensity, 0–3/4–6/7–9/10–12 indicators must be met by an enterprise.
