Care services

The statistics on care services are based on the requirements of the Long-Term Care Fund Act (Pflegefondsgesetz) and the Regulation on Long-Term Care Service Statistics (Pflegedienstleistungsstatistik-Verordnung). Data is collected on the following seven areas of long-term care provided by the federal provinces and municipalities, insofar as they are (co-)financed by social assistance/minimum income: mobile care services, support with daily living and respite services lasting serveral hours, semi-inpatient day care, inpatient care services, short-term care in inpatient facilities, alternative forms of housing, and case and care management.  24-hour care is not covered by the care service statistics, and from the 2024 survey year onwards, hospice and palliative care will also be excluded.

Data on the previous year is collected until 30 September. The statistical results are published online by the end of December and are also included in the publication Österreichischer Pflegevorsorgebericht (in German only).
