Volunteering is extremely important for social cohesion and is an essential component of the social system in Austria. In order to collect up-to-date data on the type and extent of voluntary activities, the Survey on Volunteering in private households in Austria is conducted at regular intervals.
The current survey was commissioned by the Federal Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection (BMASGPK) and was fielded by Statistics Austria in the first quarter of 2025. The data collection took place as a voluntary module of the Austrian Labour Force Survey.
