Building completions

The annual Building completion statistics report on the construction of dwellings and new buildings according to equipment features, developers and types of construction. The data is derived from the Buildings and Dwellings Register, the law on which also mandates and regulates these statistics.

Despite improvements in reporting, late registrations and omissions still occur. These are offset by supplementary estimates and attributions. Revisions are therefore carried out on a regular basis.

Break in time series 2024: Results for Vienna regarding additions, extensions and conversions work on existing buildings are available from 2024 onwards. It should be noted that the reports may not yet be complete.

Break in time series 2024: Results include dwellings completed in Vienna through additions, extensions and conversions from 2024 onwards; but possibly still to a lesser extent. – Reporting years 2022 to 2024: results include estimates for expected late registrations. New estimation factors have been applied for the year 2024. Rounding differences have not been adjusted. – Reporting years 2011 to 2021: Completions were attributed to open construction projects for new buildings with at least one main residence specified. Replacements of old buildings were not taken into account. The allocation to the individual reporting periods was made in relation to the determined average construction period (median).
