On the topic of Gender statistics the section on income provides information on the gender wage gap. According to Eurostat, the EU indicator gender pay gap (GPG) refers to the difference between the average gross hourly earnings of women and men in enterprises in the private sector with at least ten employees. By using hourly earnings, differences in working hours (part-time) are already taken into account.

Statistics Austria also conducts analyses on the influence of different factors (e.g. economic activity, occupation, education, age, length of service, part-time employment, type of employment contract, region, size of the enterprise) on the gender pay gap. The calculation is based on the four-yearly Structure of Earnings Survey. In addition, information on Annual personal income based on wage tax data is available for all employed persons as well as for full-time workers employed for the whole year.
