The statistics include annual data on the number of schools and classes in Austria. These include private schools and private schools whose classes are held either according to the School Organization Act (Schulorganisationsgesetz) or according to a curriculum or organizational statute approved by the Ministry of Education, as well as agricultural and forestry colleges and vocational schools and training centers in the health sector. The regional presentation of the results is mainly at the level of the federal province, but it is also possible to present the results at the level of the municipality.
The legal basis is the Federal Act on Documentation in Education (Bildungsdokumentationsgesetz 2020) and the ordinances of the ministries responsible for the respective types of schools (Federal Ministry of Education, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Federal Ministry of Health).
