Education expenditure statistics calculates data on the financing of the Austrian education system. Data on public expenditure on education is presented in the annual publication Bildung in Zahlen (Education in Figures). For the purpose of international reporting to UNESCO/OECD/EUROSTAT (UOE), this data is transferred according to internationally standardised concepts and rules and supplemented by private expenditure on education. This data is published in the OECD's annual publication Education at a Glance.

Education expenditure statistics show the expenditure from the elementary level through the secondary and post-secondary level to tertiary level, broken down by types of expenditure and sources of financing. Schools that do not offer formal education programmes, such as adult education centres, are not included.
