Educational attainment

Description

The educational attainment register contains information about the highest level of completed education of the Austrian resident population aged 15 and older. The register is based on the 2001 census and is updated annually with information from Austrian schools and universities, the Austrian Economic Chambers, the Austrian Chamber of Agriculture and the ministry of health. Further data comes from the data collection according to the Recognition and Evaluation Act and the Public Employment Service Austria. Information on municipality of residence, citizenship and any academic degrees comes from the central register. The legal basis is the Federal Act on Documentation of Education.

The statistics on educational attainment provide information on the highest completed education by level and field of specialization broken down by gender, age and region per October 31 every year.
