Statistical and administrative data from various sources form the basis for presenting Austria’s press and book production. On the one hand, the statistics analyze daily newspapers, their reach, and press subsidies; on the other hand, they document newly published book titles and university theses. On the subject of radio and television, the statistics publish secondary data on ORF contributions, radio and television programmes, as well as daily reach and market shares. In addition, selected data on the ORF (Austrian Broadcasting Corporation) are provided. Data on cinemas are sourced mainly from the Association of Cinemas, Cultural and Entertainment Enterprises and the Austrian Film Institute. The statistics present the structure of the cinema sector, the number of cinema admissions, net revenues of cinemas, films screened, and subsidies allocated to film production. The statistics on film festivals are based on data from the Forum of Austrian Film Festivals.
