According to the EU directive on budgetary frameworks, Statistics Austria publishes monthly and quarterly data on cash receipts and payouts for all subsectors of general government as well as five-year indicators which show a potential impact on general government deficit and/or debt. Council Directive 2011/85/EU, a package of six legal initiatives (“six-pack”), forms the legal basis for these statistics.

Monthly and quarterly cash data is published for the federal government, state governments and social security, quarterly cash data for local governments. The following indicators are published on an annual basis: guarantees, non-performing loans, off-balance sheet public private partnerships (PPPs), liabilities of public corporations, and the participation of general government in the capital of private and public corporations.
