The wholesale price index (WPI) is a decisive economic indicator for the domestic economy and is part of a comprehensive price index system. The task of the wholesale price index is to present the monthly price trends of goods sold by wholesalers by using the wholesale selling prices (excluding VAT) as the price basis. The survey area includes the economic products of the current ÖCPA, in section G 45 and 46. The overall index and the sub-indices are published monthly, also according to goods categories, types of use and seasonality. The wholesale price index is used by both public authorities and domestic and foreign companies for a large number of commercial contracts and valorisations. The obligation to provide information is pursuant to Section 10 of the regulation on the compilation of indices of price developments in the economy, Federal Law Gazette II No. 147/2007, as amended by Federal Law Gazette II No. 222/2015.
