The price index for motor vehicle liability insurance benefits (KVLPI) – ordered by the Association of the Insurance Companies of Austria – measures the average price development of the most important insurance benefit components of motor vehicle insurance. The KVLPI consists of the following main groups: vehicle damage, other property damage and personal injury. Below that there are further aggregates and index positions. External data and in-house data from the VPI, TLI and BKI areas is used to calculate the index.
In 2016, Statistics Austria revised the basket of the motor vehicle liability insurance benefit price index KVLPI. The weight structure can be seen in the "Basket and weighting of the KVLPI 2016". Statistics Austria has published the new KVLPI with the base year 2016 since January 2017. The KVLPI (base: 2010) will continue and is chained with the KVLPI (base: 2016).
