Average property prices show the average price level of properties in regions of Austria. The data is based on purchases of houses, flats and land made by private households. For houses and flats, results are available at district level, divided into nine size categories. For land, average prices for municipalities are also published.
To calculate the values of the reporting year, the transactions of the four previous years are also taken into account. A regression model valorises the prices of the previous years, taking into account differences in living areas, floor areas, building periods and location of the properties. According to the Land Value Regulation (Grundstückswertverordnung), the average property prices can be used as a basis for calculating the land transfer tax on gratuitous acquisitions.
