The working hours in the main or second job, the volume of work (= total number of hours actually worked per quarter or year) and the paid or unpaid overtime or extra hours (= hours worked beyond the agreed normal working hours) are presented in accordance with the definitions of the International Labour Organization (ILO). Working hours are distinguished between normal working hours (i.e. in a normal week, including regular overtime and extra hours), contractual working hours (i.e. the contractually agreed weekly hours) and hours actually worked (i.e. excluding absences such as holidays, sickness, etc.).

Working time, volume of work and overtime can be presented by gender, age, occupational status (self-employed, employed), economic sector (ÖNACE) and federal province. In addition, time series are provided. The results come from the Microcensus Labour Force Survey (sample survey).
