According to the definitions of the International Labour Organization (ILO), the unemployed are those persons who are not employed, are able to take up a job within two weeks after the reference week and have actively sought work during the reference week and the three weeks preceding it, or already have a job offer and will take up this job in a maximum of three months. The unemployment rate according to the international definition is the share of unemployed persons in the labour force (employed and unemployed), aged 15 to 74 in each case.
Unemployed persons and unemployment rates can be presented by gender, age, education, nationality and regional characteristics, among others. The duration of unemployment, characteristics of the last employment and time series are also provided. The results come from the Microcensus Labour Force Survey (sample survey) as well as the Register-based Census and the Register-based Labour Market Statistics (administrative data).
