Statistics on job vacancies provide information on the unmet demand for labour in Austria. A job vacancy is defined as a newly created, vacant or soon to be vacant paid position for which active steps are being taken to find a suitable applicant outside the company.
Job vacancies are presented both quarterly and as a yearly average, structured by economic sectors according to OENACE-2025 (production, retail and service, public and social sector). Furthermore, the yearly average of job vacancies is illustrated by occupation, minimum education, apprenticeship, extent of working time, registration with the Austrian Public Employment Service (AMS), duration of search and expected gross income. The results also include the registered job vacancies of the Austrian Public Employment Service (AMS) by occupation and federal state.
