The statistics on sickness rates are maintained by the Federation of Social Insurances. They refer to all medically confirmed sick leave cases (excluding normal births) that were associated with incapacity for work and closed in the year under review, and contain information on sick leave cases, sick leave cases per 1 000 employed persons (blue- and white-collar workers), sick leave days per employed person and average length of sick leave. Further data on sick leave can be found on the website of the Federation of Social Insurances (in German only).
