Since the first of July 2017, employees who have been on extended sick leave have the possibility to chose a part-time model of vocational reintegration (Wiedereingliederungsteilzeit). During the period of part-time vocational reintegration, employees are paid by their employer according to their reduced hours and in addition, receive a reintegration subsidy from the Austrian Social Health Insurance Fund (ÖGK).
On behalf of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Economy (BMAW), Statistics Austria has evaluated the part-time model of vocational reintegration (Wiedereingliderungsteilzeit). The focus of the evaluation was on the target of keeping employees in the workforce. The evaluation was based on data from ÖGK as well as administrative labor market data from Statistics Austria. The study included all cases of part-time vocational reintegration between 2017 and 2023.
