The analyses on employment and cancer focus on people diagnosed with cancer. Statistics Austria examines data on people of working age (15 to 64 years) who have been diagnosed with cancer, with a particular focus on those who were employed at the time of diagnosis. In addition, the analysis examines how cancer affects future employment. For better classification, the results are also presented in comparison to the overall population. The analyses highlight the relevance of targeted labour market and health policy measures to promote the participation of cancer patients in the labour market.
The data is based on information from the Austrian National Cancer Registry, combined with labour market data.
