Global value chains are an important factor in the international organisation of enterprises’ economic activities. Therefore, this topic was included in the program of European business statistics with Regulation 2019/2152.
The Austrian global value chains survey was conducted in 2024 covering the reporting period of 2021 to 2023. Austrian enterprises were interviewed about international outsourcing of their business and about their involvement in cross-border supply chains (international purchasing and supply of goods and services). Data was collected from enterprises employing 50 persons at least.
The statistics also aims at capturing entrepreneurial motives for being involved in global value chains as well as the effects of current geopolitical events in this area.
