The turnover index shows the monthly development of turnover and sales in Austria and therefore provides valuable information regarding the country’s economic development. The index is published for industry and construction (divisions B to F of ÖNACE 2008) as well as for trade and services (divisions of G, H, I, J, L, M (excluding group 70.1 and divisions 72 and 75) and N of ÖNACE 2008).
The current base period is 2021, the next base period will be 2025. Statistics Austria publishes preliminary results for industry and construction 40 days after the end of the reporting period, revised data after 70 days and final results in September of the following year. For retail trade, Statistics Austria publishes preliminary results about 30 days after the end of the reporting period and final results for the remaining areas of trade and services about 60 days after the end of the reporting period.
