The Agricultural Price Indices (API) are measures of price developments within agriculture and forestry. They comprise two areas. The revenue side (revenues from sales of agricultural and forestry products) and the expenditure side (expenditure on resources and investments – input index). Due to the structural link between agriculture and forestry in Austria, the agricultural price index of agricultural and forestry products including public funds is reported as a national indicator. This indicator is of great importance for the valorization of agricultural and forestry rents and farm transfer contracts (index calculator – available in German language only). For comparison within the EU, the agricultural price index is limited to the agricultural sector. Months, quarters and the respective calendar year serve as the reference period. The most important data sources are the producer price statistics, other price indices published by Statistics Austria and data on prices published by other institutions.
