The income tax statistics analyze the taxable income of individuals based on income tax assessment data. They provide key figures, including the number of taxpayers, their earnings and losses by income type, taxable income, assessed income tax, deducted wage tax, tax liability or credit, as well as tax allowances and deductions.

Additionally, the predominant income type and the tax assessment method are documented. Most tables include a gender-specific breakdown. Regional results are presented at the level of federal provinces (Bundesländer), NUTS units, and political districts.
