This publication covers a wide range of information, from births and medical characteristics of newborns to mortality and causes of death, including demographic data relevant to the health system. Indicators of the health status of the population include information on hospital discharges, cancer incidence, notifiable diseases and health status of conscripts. Topics relevant to insurance law include sick leave, (permanent) disability pensions and accidents at work.

Finally, annual figures on health expenditure, Austrian health institutions, health personnel and training in health professions are indicators of health care provision. Further information can be found on the Statistics Austria website.
