The publication provides information on the form and extent of educational activities financed by Austrian companies in the year 2020. The focus of the survey is on continuing vocational training courses provided by enterprises of the manufacturing and the services sector.

The results were processed in the context of the European Continuing Vocational Training Survey (CVTS6), which ‑ after the surveys of 1999, 2005, 2010 and 2015 ‑ was carried out for the fifth time in Austria. On the basis of a unified conceptual and methodological framework, the 27 EU Member States as well as Norway, Macedonia and Serbia obtained comparable data on vocational training. The European results are published by Eurostat.

Since the working and economic conditions of many companies were severely affected by the global coronavirus pandemic in 2020 and in particular the special problem of holding face-to-face training events, it is important to interpret the present training results against this background. The scope and extent of many lockdown measures also varied serious between EU countries and must therefore be considered when looking at the European results.
