This publication is being released in the STATkompakt format for the first time and contains structural data on the stock of all vehicles registered for circulation (motor vehicles and trailers) as of December 31, 2025. An overview of vehicle types, trends in the passenger car stock by fuel type since 1960 and level of motorization over the past four years is provided. It also includes an index of the vehicle stock starting from the base year 1970.

This is followed by information on key details on the compilation of motor vehicle statistics, the legal basis, plausibility checks, processing information, as well as the characteristics, definitions and user groups of motor vehicle statistics.

The tables can now be ordered directly from the responsible parties (see imprint). As in the publications of stock data in the previous years, these tables present a time series with key data since 1931 and contains data on passenger cars, motorcycles, mopeds, motor tri- and quadricycles, omnibuses, lorries, articulated lorries, tractors used for agriculture and forestry, driveable work machines, harvesters and motor caravans, presented down to the level of the federal state – where statistically meaningful and possible.
