In 2025, Statistics Austria developed a composite indicator that takes a combined view of key aspects of energy poverty. Using this composite indicator, the report shows the total number of Austrian households affected by energy poverty in 2024, as well as the link between energy poverty and the risk of poverty. Energy-poor households are then analysed according to a wide range of socio-demographic characteristics. This reveals clear structural differences in the risk of being affected by energy poverty. Data from EU-SILC 2024 are used.
