The publication “Forecast of cancer incidence, cancer prevalence and cancer mortality until 2045“ presents the results of the cancer projection 2025. The findings are shown broken down by 16 cancer entities, sex, and federal state. For projecting cancer incidence, mortality, and prevalence up to 2045, the 2024 population projection was combined with statistical analyses from the Austrian National Cancer Registry and the cause-of-death statistics. For this purpose, Statistics Austria’s microsimulation model STATSIM was expanded with new modules for assigning cancer diagnoses and cancer deaths.
