Survey on service producer prices

Being an important national and European Economic short-term indicator, the service producer price indices (SPPI) measure the quarterly average price development for service product groups, as well as for services sectors. The SPPI provides not only information about the economic development of certain service industry sectors, but also illustrates important trends for national enterprises, which are of importance for economic and political decision makers. The collected prices should reflect real market transaction prices including any applicable discounts, rebates, surcharges, but exclude value added tax and subsidies received by the producer.

Regulation (EU) 2019/2152 of the European Parliament and of the Council on European business statistics, repealing ten legal acts in the area of ​​business statistics (EBS regulation) as amended, Regulation (EC) No. 1165/98, economic statistics (OJ No. L 162 of June 5, 1998 p. 1) as amended, as well as the regulation on the creation of indices of price developments in the economy, Federal Law Gazette II No. 147/ 2007 as amended. This regulation regulates, among other things, the obligation to provide information and cooperate in Sections 10 and 11.

The companies were selected for the legally mandatory EPI-DL survey. An obligation to provide information and cooperate is based on § 10 and § 11 Ordinance on the creation of indices of price developments in the economy, Federal Law Gazette II No. 147/2007 as amended.

The current survey cycle runs from the beginning of 2021 to the end of 2025.

Price reporting occurs quarterly and is mandatory for the selected companies.

The automatic request to report prices occurs at the end of each quarter. The questionnaires must be submitted by the 15th of the first month of the following quarter.

The results of the survey are then published at the end of the following quarter.

In acordance with the BGBl. II No. 147/2007, companies can be selected for data transmission to Statistics Austria. In accordance with §§ 10 and 11 this results in an obligation to provide the requested data and cooperation.
For data transmission, selected companies may access the electronic reporting channel via the Statistics Austria portal.
