ICT usage in enterprises

Statistics Austria carries out an annual survey on the usage of information and communication technologies (ICT) in Austrian enterprises. The scope is limited to enterprises from selected industries with ten or more employees. The focus is on topics such as internet use, e-commerce sales, cloud services, data analytics, artificial intelligence or ICT security.

Thanks to harmonized definitions and a uniform methodology which are included in European regulations, important indicators for EU-wide benchmarks can be determined. These indicators are used to monitor the progress of the digital transformation. Austrian results are available in autumn of the respective survey year, EU-wide results at the end of the year.

The Federal Ministry of Finance (BMF) and the Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat) commissioned Statistics Austria to carry out the survey on ICT usage in enterprises. The survey is based on EU regulations that oblige Austria to report annual data on the usage of ICT in enterprises.

The definitions and methodology have been harmonised across the EU, which means that the results of this survey are comparable across the EU.

Random sample survey covering enterprises from selected ÖNACE 2008 industries (C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, L, M, N, S (95.1)) with ten or more employees.

Participation in the survey is not mandatory.

The survey period usually extends from the end of February to mid-June.

Latest deadline for submissions in 2024: 21 June 2024.

Use the link to access the web questionnaire and enter your username and password. You find your username and password on page 1 of the letter we sent by mail.

When logging in for the first time, you have to change your password and assign a password of your choice with at least 12 characters (including upper and lower case letters, numbers and special characters are permitted). This password is only known by you and cannot be decrypted by Statistics Austria. After confirming your new password, please select “eQuest-Web” on the following page and open the questionnaire “IKT-Einsatz in Unternehmen 2024” (only available in German).

Under “E-Mail Verfikation” you have the option of entering an email address, so that you can reset your password quickly yourself if necessary. Enter an email address of your choice and follow the instructions in the email sent to you to complete the process.

Paper questionnaire (available in English)

You are welcome to request a paper questionnaire from us. Please send us an email or give us a call.

If you would like to download the paper questionnaire and send it to us: Please enter your company’s name and ID (starting with “E” followed by a five-digit number) in the address field of the questionnaire so that we are able to assign the questionnaire to your company. You will find your ID on page 1 of the letter sent to you by post.
