As part of the education expenditure statistics, data on the financing of the Austrian private education system is collected annually in the course of a full survey. This data is required both for answering the international questionnaire from UNESCO/OECD/EUROSTAT and for national calculations (see also legal bases). The data is only shown in a highly aggregated form, so that it is impossible to draw conclusions about individual data.
In accordance with EU Regulation No. 912/2013, Statistics Austria is obliged to report annual data on the financing of the Austrian education system to UNESCO, OCED and EUROSTAT (UOE). At the national level, Statistics Austria has to compile annual federal statistics on the education system in a regional breakdown for the financing of education in accordance with § 18 Para. 1 Z 3 Education Documentation Act, Federal Law Gazette I No. 20/2021 (Bildungsdokumentationsgesetz, BGBl. I Nr. 20/2021).

The above-mentioned educational institutions are obliged to provide Statistics Austria with the expenditure data specified in Section 18 (4) BilDokG 2020, broken down by income and expenditure types.
Participation in the survey is voluntary for childcare facilities.
This year's survey refers to the calendar year 2024 or, alternatively, the 2023/24 school year, the 2023/24 academic year or the 2023/24 kindergarten year. We ask that you submit the completed form to bildungfin@statistik.gv.at by 30 April, 2026.
