This data protection information informs you about the processing of personal data when using the website www.statistik.at.

Logging of IP addresses

While accessing this website (this is also valid for any other website), you transmit data to a web server via your IT device (computer, tablet or smartphone).

The following data are recorded during an ongoing connection for communication between your IT device and the web server of Statistics Austria: Date and time of the request, name of the requested file, website from which the file was requested, access status, web browser and operating system used, requesting IP address, amount of data transmitted as well as browser log data relating to the visit of our website. This information is required to maintain the operation and IT security of our website and will be evaluated for error analysis in the event of an incident.

Cookies

"Session Cookies": They are automatically deleted at the end of the Internet session or when the web browser is closed.

"Persistent cookies": They have a maximum expiry period of 2 years and are automatically deleted after expiry of their validity period.

Web application by Matomo

Our website uses Matomo. This is an open source application for statistical analysis of user access. The information generated by the use of this website (cookies) is transferred to the web server and stored for usage analysis purposes. This serves to optimize our website. The IP address is anonymized before processing and storage. You can prevent the installation of cookies at any time by setting your web browser software accordingly.

Use of Google reCAPTCHA

Our website uses the Google reCaptcha service for certain applications to determine whether these applications on our website can be assigned to a person or a computer. Google uses the following data to check whether the input is made by a person or a computer: IP address of the device used, the site that is visited on our website and on which the captcha is integrated, the date and duration of the visit, the identification data of the browser and operating system type used, Google account if you are logged in to Google, mouse movements on the reCaptcha areas and tasks in which you have to identify images. This data processing is based on the legal basis of Article 6 (1) (f) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, Regulation (EU) 2016/679). Statistics Austria has a legitimate interest in this data processing to ensure the security of our website and to protect us from automated entries (attacks).

If you are interested in receiving newsletters, press releases, quick reports, Statistics Brief, Zahlenspiegel and/or other mail subscriptions on topics of your choice via our newsletter-system, we need your e-mail address and your declaration of consent. If you wish to order publications via our website, an order form is available on our website. To ensure that your order can be processed, we need the following information: E-mail address, first name, surname, postal address.

Our website also provides access to applications of Statistics Austria as e.g. our Statistical Database STATcube. The respective data protection information can be found in these applications.

Forwarding of personal data to third parties

The user data recorded on our website will not be passed on to third parties. An exception to this principle exists only in the case of attacks on our website for legal or criminal prosecution.
